蛋燵 (葡萄牙文: pastéis de nata) 是葡萄牙人所發明, 在葡萄牙大城小鎮的街頭巷尾, 無論是高尚的還是平民化的cafe, 都有供應。
Pastéis de nata – Portugal’s famous egg custard tarts. They are served at cafes all over Portugal.
要吃最正宗的葡燵, 就要來到里斯本市市郊 Belém 區 (貝連區/是里斯本的一大旅遊區) 著名的 Antiga Confeitaria de Belém。 這家店就是葡燵的誕生地, 時為1837年。只有這家店出產的葡燵能稱為 "Pastéis de Belém"「貝連蛋燵」, 其他任何的蛋燵, 都只能稱作 "pastéis de nata)「蛋燵」。整間店裝飾以傳統古典的葡式藍白色瓷磚, 格調典雅, 加上正宗葡式蛋燵, 極具風味。
There is only one type of Portuguese egg custard tarts which they can claim themselves "Pastéis de Belém" - those which are made and sold at Antiga Confeitaria de Belém, in Belém, a suburb of Lisbon, since 1837 - the birthplace of the first Portuguese egg custard tarts.
